NPA Inaugural Interns

Gifty Antwi

joins NPA from Fayetteville, Georgia. She attends Howard University and is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Political Science. As a 2021 NPA Summer Intern, Gifty’s main objective is to conduct research criminal justice reform in the United States with a specific focus on the juvenile justice system.

Lorrin Davis

(she/her/hers) is a current fourth-year student and Stephen Joel Trachtenberg Scholarship recipient at The George Washington University of Washington, DC. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in The Elliott School of International Affairs concentrating in International Development with six years of Mandarin-Chinese language learning experience. In addition to Lorrin’s academic pursuits, she has obtained experience as a Brand Associate working in the retail industry and experience as a Concierge working in the real estate industry. As a strong scholar and professional, Lorrin has gained Analytical, Critical-Thinking, Resilience, Responsibility, and Reflection skills, as well as Sales, Communication, Networking, Leadership, and Marketing skills. While Lorrin has hobbies such as acting and singing, and the ability to make people laugh, her future career aspirations are to become a Foreign Affairs Consultant and ultimately, a Foreign Service Officer. 

Lamar Danley

is a political science major, African American studies minor, sophomore at Howard University by way of West Memphis, AR. Lamar has an interest in policy work with an emphasis on educational reform that would distain racism, promoting elevation for POC.

Azariah Grant

is finishing her second year at Howard University where she majors in Media, Journalism, and Film, and minors in English. She has maintained a stellar GPA of 3.9 since her first year and has been added to the Dean’s List for her academic excellence. She plans to work for an established media company in the future, such as Tyler Perry Studios, Netflix, or HBO. Through the National Policy Alliance internship, she plans to gain some political experience and network with policy leaders. She also desires to expand her professional portfolio.

Sarah Slaughter

is a Los Angeles native heading into her junior year at Howard University. As a Political Science major, she has developed an admiration for policy work for its role in facilitating social change. Recently, Sarah spent a semester at American University’s Washington Semester Program and interned with the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA).  At NELA, she closely tracked federal judicial nominations for the organization’s monthly newsletter. Sarah looks forward to the opportunity of working with NPA this summer!
